A Hind limb splint is rigid support made from polypropylene thermoplastic or metal. The purpose of Hind splinting for dogs orthopedics, diseases or deformities treatment acutely is to immobilize and protect the injured extremity, aid in healing, lessen pain & prevent to further deformity.
In hind limbs splinting procedure we use Different types of splints are used at different level.
1. PAW AND HOCK MOULDED CUSTOMIZE ; Small animal lower back injuries typically require splinting .The lower rear limbs in the hock and paw region will be stabilized and supported by the Rear Splints with or without paw depending upon requirement.
2. KNEE [ STIFLE ] MOULDED CUSTOMIZE ; The most common damage to the canine cranial cruciate ligament (CCL) is painful knee injury and can be treated with a dog knee molded customize support need immobilization to be repaired. The upper rear limbs at the knee region will be stabilized and supported by the Rear Splints without hock & paw for supportive point of view.
